A Happy Birthday Girl And A New Driver.....

It has been a week full of  birthday excitement for Hannah. She turned 9 on Thursday and enjoyed her Frozen birthday party, a sleepover with her cousin and a trip to the American Girl store. Noah got his driver's permit this week, also. It has been fun to see him in the driver's seat learning and doing a great job!

June means Summer Fun!

This past weekend was filled with many dance recitals, a soccer game and the end of activities for the summer. The kids performed wonderfully and we are so proud of them.  It has been such a busy several months for our family that this week we are taking some time to officially start our summer break. The kids have been enjoying time outside in our new backyard. We have been in our new home for about 3 weeks now. We could use your prayers for our old house. We were supposed to close last week and several days before closing we learned that the bank pulled out for the buyers. We are praying for it to move quickly. On another note....Moses is doing great with his prosthetic. He is running and loving every moment. It's hard to keep up with him!

Standing Tall on Easter Weekend 2014

After 7 months of being home, surgery, and waiting for the prosthetic, we got to see Moses walk for the first time on Saturday morning. What an incredible sight it was to see our little guy with his leg! He is doing really well and seems to get better with it every hour. I am thankful for the helpers who are cheering him on here. He loves the attention, too. Thanks for the prayers and hope you get to see him in action with it soon!

A family update

Sorry that it has been awhile since the last post. We have had some challenging issues the last several months with our house, Moses's surgery and recovery and just life. All of it hasn't left much time to download pictures or blog, so I am thankful today that Moses is taking a long nap(which doesn't happen very often):) Here's the latest on Moses's prosthetic. When we had what we hoped was the intial fitting(end of March), the orthotist didn't think his leg was quite ready to be fitted. He needed to wear this sock stump shrinker for several weeks. At our last appointment, he was casted for his new leg, which was awesome news! We have an appointment this Thursday and are hopeful that his leg will be ready to try. We are so excited for this new experience for Moses. His orthotist seems to think he will just go when it is put on. We can't wait to see! The other kids are working so hard in school and their activities. They are counting down the days until summer break!

Life More Like Normal

Now that we are 3 weeks post surgery, life feels a little more normal. We are able to let Moses move more freely which makes life easier and happier for everyone.  It's so hard to keep an active little guy like Moses off his leg. It is healing very nicely and we are excited for the next steps of the journey. He will be fitted by the prosthetist at the end of the month.
I wanted to thank everyone for the prayers and support. It was such a blessing to have our parents out helping and for all of you who brought meals and checked in on us....thank you....thank you.....thank you!!!!

Not all of the time was Moses smiling during the time with his cast on, but we are continually amazed at how he can see the joy in things. He loves people and his smile is contagious!
This is the day the cast came off. We tried to bribe him with new Wiggles dolls while they were taking off the cast. It didn't work! His orthopedic doctor even tried singing a Wiggles song. He was much happier when we got home!

A happy boy who can move now!

Hannah is enjoying the dessert from a meal brought over.(Thanks Mesa!)

With all the craziness of the last several weeks, we found some time to take the other kiddos out to the movies. Hannah and I enjoyed seeing Frozen for the second time. It was much needed time out for all of us!

Surgery update and Chinese New Year

Moses is a little trooper. It was a hard day on Monday and Tuesday but thank God, we are doing much better now. The surgery went well and because he pulled off his splint twice Monday night, we were back on Tuesday getting a hip spica cast put on. He'll have his cast on until Thursday and from there will do some follow up visits with the doctors. We hope to be getting a prosthetic fitting by the end of March. We will keep you posted:)

Baby Moe Moe

What a gift to find out that we have baby pictures of Moses! In our care package that we sent to China for Moses, there was a USB drive for pictures to be put on. Because everything still had tags on them when they were given back in China, we thought it had been unused. It was still in the plastic. Last week my sister called to say they tried their USB drive and there were pictures on it. I was praying that I hadn't just tossed mine because I was frustrated. So glad I didn't! Here they are....

Love the mohawk! He's about 10 months old in this picture.

Happy New Year!

Here are pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. We had such a special first Christmas with Moses. It is so fun watching him experience all these "first" things. Noah made our Christmas meal as his final Home Ec project and it was delicious! What great timing for this with all our family changes!
We wish you all a very Happy New Year! May God bless you!
